In my opinion, this statement has become slightly archaic, however I do not disagree with it completely. At the previous times it was necessary and then became a tradition yet the world has changed. I'd say that nowadays, young generation do not tend to start their own independent life as early as they could. As I see it, children graduate school at the age of 18 and enter a university. And it's a well-known fact that without a good diploma or qualifications it would be difficult for your to get a good job and live your own life. So, if they want to become well-educated, they wouldn't have enough time to earn for living themselves. Nevertheless, children shouldn't stay with parents for too long or they would miss their chance to taste a freedom.
